Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd will miss the mobile number portability (MNP) deadline of December 31, as the two state-owned companies are not yet ready.
Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited, a public sector entity, expects to get over 2 million broadband connections by the end of next year, and 6 lakh (600,000) 3G subscribers by March 31, 2010. At present, the telecom service provider has 1.3 lakh subscribers for its 3G services in Mumbai and Delhi circles.
State-owned Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) has increased the speed of its broadband services to 384 kbps from the earlier 256 kbps. The speed has been increased for free-of-cost for its ‘Unlimited Broadband Tariff’ plan users in Mumbai telecom circle.
