Tata Communications has launched a 55,000 square-feet data centre in Pune to offer co-location, managed hosting and storage and services including managed security services and content delivery network services. The Tata group company has invested around Rs 125 crore for the data centre, and intends an additional investment of Rs 500 crore (based on market demand) over the next three years.

Tata Communications will start delivering capacity into Australia via the privately owned PIPE Pacific 1 (PPC-1) cable system. PPC-1 is a new two-fibre-pair cable system connecting the US territory of Guam to Sydney, Australia. The cable system spans 6,900 km and can provide up to 2.56 terabits per second of capacity to the rapidly growing Australian market.
