Norway-based Telenor Group has made its last tranche of fresh equity investment in Uninor, increasing its total stake in the Indian company to 67.25 per cent. Telenor Group’s investments in the telecom service provider to Rs 6,120 crore. Uninor is the telecom brand of Unitech Wireless, a joint venture firm of real estate major Unitech and Telenor Group.



Uninor, the telecom brand of Unitech Wireless, launched services across seven circles in India, and announced its offer of GSM services at 29 paisa per minute. Unitech Wireless, the joint venture company of real estate major Unitech Ltd and Norway-based Telenor Group, was offered licences last year to launch services.
Genpact has bagged a five-year back office services contract from new telecom licencee Unitech Wireless to deploy customer service solutions for Unitech Wireless in North India. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
