Alcatel-Lucent has introduced a new radio module, based on software defined radio (SDR) technology, which gives mobile service providers the flexibility to support any mix services simultaneously. Using the technology, mobile operators can provide a mixture of services like 2G GSM, 3G W-CDMA/HSPA+ and long term evolution (LTE) among others.

Chinese telecom network solutions provider Huawei and Scandinavian telecom service provider TeliaSonera have jointly deployed the world’s first commercial Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Oslo, Norway. These 4G services offer maximum speeds of up to 100 Mbs, which are 10 times faster than existing 3G networks.
